I have received a cover from Poland. Inside was two nice mini sheets. Stamp used on this cover is The Witcher, issued on 16.09.2016. On this stamp you can Geralt of Rivia, main character from famous Polish game franchise The Witcher.
First mini sheet Polish Design: Syrena Sport (1960), issued on 30.12.2016. Syrena Sport is prototype designed by Cezary Nawrot in 1960.
Second mini sheet is The 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, issued on 01.08.2014.
The Warsaw Uprising was a major World War II operation by the Polish resistance Home Army to liberate Warsaw from German occupation. The uprising was timed to coincide with the Soviet Union's Red Army approaching the eastern suburbs of the city and the retreat of German forces. However, the Soviet advance stopped short, enabling the Germans to regroup and demolish the city while defeating the Polish resistance, which fought for 63 days with little outside support.
Although the exact number of casualties remains unknown, it is estimated that about 16,000 members of the Polish resistance were killed and about 6,000 badly wounded. In addition, between 150,000 and 200,000 Polish civilians died, mostly from mass executions.German casualties totaled over 8,000 soldiers killed and missing, and 9,000 wounded.
Thank you Zuzanna!
