In the 16th century, the town grew as it became a trading post for foreign merchants. Niue: Utuko Reef

I received earlier cover from Niue, and this is my first postcard. Niue is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean, 2,400 kilometers northeast of New Zealand, east of Tonga, south of Samoa, and west of the Cook Islands. The first Europeans to sight Niue sailed under Captain James Cook in 1774. Cook made three attempts to land, but the inhabitants refused to grant permission to do so. He named the island "Savage Island" because, as legend has it, the natives who "greeted" him were painted in what appeared to be blood. The substance on their teeth was hulahula, a native red fe'i banana. For the next couple of centuries, Niue was known as Savage Island until its original name, Niuē, which translates as "behold the coconut", regained use.

These two stamps are from set Butterflyfish of Niue, issued on 20.9.2017.

Thank you Wolfgang!

China: Romance of the Three Kingdoms

Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a 14th-century historical novel attributed to Luo Guanzhong. It is set in the turbulent years towards the end of the Han dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period in Chinese history, starting in 169 AD and ending with the reunification of the land in 280. The story – part historical, part legend, and part mythical – romanticises and dramatises the lives of feudal lords and their retainers, who tried to replace the dwindling Han dynasty or restore it. While the novel follows hundreds of characters, the focus is mainly on the three power blocs that emerged from the remnants of the Han dynasty, and would eventually form the three states of Cao Wei, Shu Han, and Eastern Wu. The novel deals with the plots, personal and military battles, intrigues, and struggles of these states to achieve dominance for almost 100 years.

This big mini sheet (182 x 65mm), is issued on 24.11.1994. It arrived in very damaged cover, but fortunately, it was very well protected inside.

This cover looks like postman was hungry! Two stamps also missing. Survived stamp is Apricots, from set Fruits, issued on 23.7.2016.

Thank you Nicole!

Liechtenstein: The 100th Anniversary of the Death of Gustav Klimt

This stamp set is dedicated to The 100th Anniversary of the Death of Gustav Klimt, great Austrian symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. Klimt is noted for his paintings, murals, sketches, and other objets d'art. Klimt's primary subject was the female body, and his works are marked by a frank eroticism. Early in his artistic career, he was a successful painter of architectural decorations in a conventional manner. As he developed a more personal style, his work was the subject of controversy that culminated when the paintings he completed around 1900 for the ceiling of the Great Hall of the University of Vienna were criticized as pornographic. He subsequently accepted no more public commissions, but achieved a new success with the paintings of his "golden phase", many of which include gold leaf. This stamp set shows paintings The Kiss (1907–08) and Death and Life (1910). Stamp are issued on 5.3.2018.

Thank you Rosmarie!
