Two delayed postcards from Malaysia!

 

I received two postcards from Malaysia sent by random senders from Postcard United. It's astonishing how much time these two cards have traveled thanks to many obstacles caused by COVID-19.

If you look at the dates on these postcards, you can see they've been sent in May and June 2020 - year and a half ago! Also both senders are writing about COVID-19, so these cards truly reflects this awful worldwide pandemic.

Traditional Craftwork on cover from Malaysia

Here is another cover from Malaysia, but this time with 3 stamps from set Traditional Craftwork, issued on 4.12.2019. Centuries of cultural diversity, legacy and tradition have produced a strong arts and crafts culture in Malaysia with a wide range of influence. These skills are passed down from one generation to another to recreate the same exquisite masterpieces. On this stamps we can see Wood Carving Craft (Seni Ukiran Kayu), Ceramic Craft (Seni Kraf Seramik) and Bamboo Craft (Seni Anyaman Buluh).

Malayan Tiger on cover from Malaysia

The Malayan tiger is a Panthera tigris tigris population in Peninsular Malaysia. This population inhabits the southern and central parts of the Malay Peninsula, and has been classified as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List in 2015. The population was roughly estimated at 250 to 340 adult individuals in 2013, and likely comprises less than 200 mature breeding individuals and has a declining trend. This souvenir sheet is part of set Protected Fauna of Malaysia, issued on 28.7.2019. There's 3 more stamps in this set, and i received them earlier on this cover.

I received this nice cover with stamps from set Protected Fauna of Malaysia, issued on 28.7.2019. Animals on stamps are Sunda Pangolin (Manis javanica), Malayan Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus) and Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus).

There's also one stamp and cancellation on the back of the cover

Honey bees on cover from Malaysia

A honey bee is a eusocial flying insect within the genus Apis of the bee clade. They are known for construction of perennial, colonial nests from wax, for the large size of their colonies, and for their surplus production and storage of honey, distinguishing their hives as a prized foraging target of many animals, including honey badgers, bears and human hunter-gatherers. In the early 21st century, only seven species of honey bee are recognized, with a total of 44 subspecies, though historically seven to eleven species are recognized. The best known honey bee is the western honey bee which has been domesticated for honey production and crop pollination; modern humans also value the wax for candlemaking, soapmaking, lip balms, and other crafts. Honey bees represent only a small fraction of the roughly 20,000 known species of bees. On this cover you see honey bees from Malaysia, on stamps released on 9.4.2019.

Malaysian Festivals stamp set on cover

Pos Malaysia released on 15.1.2019. the “Malaysian Festivals Series 3” stamps that portray the different festivities celebrated in Malaysia. There are five stamp designs, each illustrating different themes – Chinese New Year, Kaamatan and Gawai festivals, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Deepavali – with each stamp priced at 60sen. Print run is million stamps for this series, with 200,000 stamps for each design.

World Post Day on cover from Malaysia

World Post day happens each year on October 9, the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which started in 1874 in Switzerland. The UPU was the start of the global communications revolution, introducing the ability to write to others all over the world. World Post Day started in 1969. Since then, countries all over the world take part in celebrations to highlight the importance of the postal service, and many release stamps to mark this day. One of this countries is Malaysia, with this stamps issued 9.10.2018.

Malaysia: F1 circuit Sepang with matching stamp

The circuit was designed by German designer Hermann Tilke, who would subsequently design F1 venues in Shanghai, Sakhir, Istanbul, Valencia, Marina Bay, Yas Marina, Yeongnam, Greater Noida and Austin. The circuit was officially inaugurated by the 4th Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dr Mahathir Bin Mohamad on 7 March 1999. With a length of 5.543 km, the track features 15 turns and 8 straights with access speeds of more than 300km/h. The track allows ample opportunities for overtaking, to ensure a race full of suspense and thrill.

 This matching stamp is from set F1 Malaysian Grand Prix 1999, issued on 16.10.1999.

I received a cover from Malaysia with few very nice mint stamps. First stamps are dedicated to F1 Malaysian Grand Prix 1999 on F1 circuit in Sepang. Release date is 16.10.1999.

Second stamps are minisheet International Union of Forestry Research Organisations Conference, Kuala Lumpur, issued on 07.08.2004.

Stamp on cover are from set International Definitives, issued on 01.10.2016.

Postcrossing postcard from Malaysia

I have received wonderful postcard from Malaysia dedicated to Postcrossing. Postcrossing is an online project that allows its members to send and receive postcards from all over the world. The project's tag line is "send a postcard and receive a postcard back from a random person somewhere in the world!” Its members, also known as postcrossers, send postcards to other members and receive postcards back from other random postcrossers. Where the postcards come from is always a surprise.

Stamp is Grand opening of the World Scout Bureau, Kuala Lumpur (from set of three), issued on 18.06.2014.

Birthday card from Malaysia

Nina received this beautiful birthday postcard from Malaysia.

This stamp is Hydrangea macrophylla, from set of eight Garden Flowers, issued on 01.07.2010.
Hydrangea macrophylla is a species of flowering plant in the family Hydrangeaceae, native to Japan. It is a deciduous shrub growing to 2 m tall by 2.5 m broad with large heads of pink or blue flowers in summer and autumn.
