The 50th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations of Singapore with Australia & New Zealand

This joint issue marks the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between Singapore and Australia, and Singapore and New Zealand. Singapore gained independence from Britain in 1963, uniting with other former British territories in the region to become part of the Federation of Malaysia. In the wake of administrative and ideological disputes, Singapore was expelled from the federation on 9.8.1965, becoming an independent nation in its own right. Symbolizing the political democracy through which Australia, New Zealand and Singapore are all governed, the parliament house of each nation is shown across the three stamp designs issued on 14.8.2015. Cover arrived with two stamps from this set of three stamps, witch depicts parliament buildings of Australia and New Zealand.

FDC The 50th Anniversary of the Republic of Singapore Air Force

The RSAF was set up on 1 September 1968 as the Singapore Air Defence Command to undertake the critical role of air defence for Singapore, following the announcement of British forces withdrawal from the region. From its humble beginnings of two Cessna aircraft on lease, the RSAF has since become an advanced and capable air force, ready to respond to threats to national security and to place the defence of Singapore as its top priority. The theme of the RSAF’s golden jubilee celebrations – Our Home, Above All – represents the RSAF's commitment to be always ready and capable to defend Singapore, and its people, 50 years and beyond. Set of seven stamps is issued 1.9.2018.

Sunrise over Singapore Harbour

My friend Wolfgang took this amazing photo with famous Singapore Flyer and incoming airplane SIA A380 in background! He printed this as a postcard and sent me from Singapore! The Singapore Flyer is a giant Ferris wheel in Singapore. Described by its operators as an observation wheel, it opened in 2008, construction having taken about 2½ years. It has 28 air-conditioned capsules, each able to accommodate 28 passengers. The Flyer has an overall height of 165 meters and was the world's tallest Ferris wheel until the 167.6 m High Roller is  opened on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada on 31 March 2014.

This stamp is reprint from set Vanishing Trades, originally issued on 26.11.2014, and reprinted in 2017.

Flags of the World Series: Singapore

I received another postcard from Flags of the World Series, this time from Singapore, a sovereign city-state and island country in Southeast Asia. Singapore's territory consists of one main island along with 62 other islets. Since independence, extensive land reclamation has increased its total size by 23% (130 square kilometers).

Two interesting stamps on postcard, both from set Greetings from the Merlion, issued on 15.11.2017.

Postal History on cover from Singapore

I received another fine cover from Johnny Lowis - three stamps from set The 150th Anniversary of the First Postage Stamp Issued in Singapore, issued on 01.09.2017.  

2017 is a special year in remembering and appreciating the history of postage stamps of Singapore. On 1 September 1867, stamps of India overprinted with a crown and various rates of postage were released becoming the first postage stamps of the Straits Settlements. This stamp issue is released to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the First Postage Stamp Issued in Singapore.

Christmas cover from Singapore

I received this Christmas cover from Singapore. Release date for cover was 25th December 2016. Cover designer is Johnny Lowis, who sent me this cover with very nice postmark. But this Christmas stamp is issued on 19.10.2016, as a part of set of eight stamps called Festivals.

There is also few stamps at the back of this cover:

Singapore Flyer

My first postcard from Singapore!

The Singapore Flyer is a giant Ferris wheel in Singapore. The Flyer has an overall height of 165 metres and was the world's tallest Ferris wheel until the 167.6 m High Roller opened on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. Construction having taken about 2,5 years.

First stamp is Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot (Loriculus galgulus), issued on 06.06.2007.
Second stamp is ATM label, Singapore SG50, issued on 14.08.2015, in celebrating the nation's Golden Jubilee.
