What do you know about Series: Portugal

I received my second postcard from What do you know about Series, this time from Portugal. I like that fun fact about pastry on this postcard, so unique! I already know about famous yellow trams and blue tiles, but this with pastry make me laugh :)

This time machine cancellation is on right side of postcard, but is barely visible. Pale red ink is not good choice for cancellation. Stamps on postcard:

Traditional Portuguese Festivities, issued on 20.7.2012.
The 500th Anniversary of the Birth of Saint Teresa of Jesus, issued on 11.9.2015.
The 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Saint John Bosco, issued on 3.9.2015.

Thank you Bruna!

Flags of the World Series: Portugal

Portugal is a country located mostly on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe. It is the westernmost country of mainland Europe, bordered to the west and south by the Atlantic Ocean and to the north and east by Spain. Its territory also includes the Atlantic archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira, both autonomous regions with their own regional governments.

Stamp is Geothermic Plant of Ribeira Grande (from set Electricity in Portugal), issued on 19.3.2018.
Stamp is not cancelled, because postal clerk put wrong side of postcard in machine. You can see machine cancellation on upper part of front side of postcard :)

Thank you Bruna!

My stamp order from Portugal

When Portuguese post issued Star Wars stamps, I decided it's time to make my first order from this beautiful country. This beautiful sheet with 3 stamps and 6 individual stamps are dedicated to The 40th Anniversary of Star Wars, and it's issued on 25.8.2017. Sheet is dedicated to the original trilogy (now Episodes IV, V and VI), and individual stamps celebrate most memorable characters from franchise.

Beautiful design and coloring for legendary characters: Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Yoda.

I also bought Europa (C.E.P.T.) - Children's Books, issued on 7.5.2010. Fantastic design!

Portugal also have separate issues for their island territories, Madeira and Azores, and it's also issued on 7.5.2010.

This is Europa (C.E.P.T.) - Astronomy, issues for Portugal, Azores and Madeira. Release date was 8.5.2009.

I also bought this 3 joint issues:
Joint issue with Iraq - Birds of Prey, 21.9.2009.
Joint issue with Turkey - Porcelain, 12.5.2009.
Joint issue with India - Folklore/Dance, 7.1.2017.

And for the end, this is one of rare posts which sends philatelic material in cover with stamps! This is so rare today, unfortunately. They used two different stamps: Christmas, (10.9.2013), and famous Portuguese tiles rewarded with Aga Khan Award for Architecture (6.9.2013.)

Map of Madeira

Madeira is a Portuguese archipelago situated in the north Atlantic Ocean, southwest of Portugal. Its total population was estimated in 2011 at 267,785. The capital of Madeira is Funchal, located on the main island's south coast. Since 1976, the archipelago has been one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal (the other being the Azores, and i still don't have postcard from there). Madeira was claimed by Portuguese sailors in the service of Prince Henry the Navigator in 1419 and settled after 1420.

This stamp is from set Christmas and New Year Festivities, issued on 07.04.2016.

Thank you Raul!

Portugal: Lisboa

Very nice illustration of Lisboa! Lisbon is the capital and the largest city of Portugal, with a population of 552,700 within its administrative limits in an area of 100.05 km². Its urban area extends beyond the city's administrative limits with a population of around 2.7 million people, being the 11th-most populous urban area in the European Union. It is continental Europe's westernmost capital city and the only one along the Atlantic coast. Lisbon lies in the western Iberian Peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean and the River Tagus. The westernmost areas of its metro area is the westernmost point of Continental Europe.

Stamp is The Lusitano Horse, issued on 2014-07-21

Thank You Madalena!

Portugal: Lisboa - Eléctrico n° 28

Line 28 of Lisbon's iconic trams was inaugurated in 1914 and today it has a 7km route between Martim Moniz Square and the neighborhood of Prazeres (between Graça and Estrela in a shorter journey). It survived the rise of the automobile and of the bus by being the best way to squeeze through the narrow streets and corners of the older districts, for being an attractive tour, and for its clean energy. It's now an essential part of Lisbon's life, a city that would lose part of its soul without the constant rattling of these singular yellow "boxes."

Stamp: Eusébio da Silva Ferreira (1942-2014)
Series: Eusebio Forever
Issued on: 2014-05-02

Thank You very much Orlando!
