Fauna on cover from Republic of Artsakh

This is another cover from Republic of Artsakh (ex-Nagorno-Karabakh). This time sender used on cover whole set of se-tenant stamps Fauna of Republic of Artsakh, issued on 17.10.2018.

First animal is squirrel, member of the family Sciuridae, a family that includes small or medium-size rodents. The squirrel family includes tree squirrels, ground squirrels, chipmunks, marmots , flying squirrels, and prairie dogs amongst other rodents. The earliest known squirrels date from the Eocene period and are most closely related to the mountain beaver and to the dormouse among other living rodent families.

Second animal is Felis silvestris, European wildcat native to continental Europe, Scotland, Turkey and the Caucasus. It inhabits forests from the Iberian Peninsula, Italy, Central and Eastern Europe to the Caucasus. It has been extirpated in England and Wales.

Third animal is  wild boar (Sus scrofa), native to much of Eurasia, North Africa, and the Greater Sunda Islands. Human intervention has spread its distribution further, making the species one of the widest-ranging mammals in the world, as well as the most widely spread suiform.The animal probably originated in Southeast Asia during the Early Pleistocene, and outcompeted other suid species as it spread throughout the Old World.

Winter Olympic Games 2018 on cover from Republic of Artsakh

Republic of Artsakh is a new name for the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic,  de facto independent country in the South Caucasus that is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan. I already received covers from Nagorno-Karabakh, but this my first cover with new name on stamps. On this nice cover you can see full set Winter Olympic Games 2018, issued on 16.2.2018.

Nagorno-Karabakh: Mammals 2009

My second cover from Nagorno-Karabakh is Mammals 2009. This stamps set is issued on 10.09.2009.Animals on stamps are Caucasian Brown Bear, Eurasian Lynxand Red Fox.

Caucasian Brown Bear (Ursus arctos caucasicus) is a large bear with the widest distribution of any living ursid. The species is distributed across much of northern Eurasia and North America. It is one of the two largest terrestrial carnivorans alive today, rivaled in body size only by its close cousin, the polar bear, which is much less variable in size and averages larger due to this.

Eurasian Lynx (Lynx lynx) is a medium-sized cat native to Siberia, Central, East, and Southern Asia, North, Central and Eastern Europe. It has been listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List since 2008 as it is widely distributed, and most populations are considered stable. Eurasian lynx have been re-introduced to several forested mountainous areas in Central and Southeastern Europe; these re-introduced subpopulations are small, less than 200 animals.

Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes), largest of the true foxes, has the greatest geographic range of all members of the Carnivora order, being present across the entire Northern Hemisphere from the Arctic Circle to North Africa, North America and Eurasia. It is listed as least concern by the IUCN. Its range has increased alongside human expansion, having been introduced to Australia, where it is considered harmful to native mammals and bird populations. Due to its presence in Australia, it is included among the list of the "world's 100 worst invasive species".

Nagorno-Karabakh: Europa 2011 Forests

Several week a go i received my first two covers from Nagorno Karabakh, with very nice and clear two colored postmark. This cover is sent from Stepanakert, capital of this disputed territory between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Stamps on cover are Europa 2011 Forests, but they are issued next year, on 16.05.2012.
